The Lincs Indian Society (LIS) was founded in 2014 to bring together people of Indian origin in the county of Lincolnshire, U.K.
The Society is a secular, non-political, non-profit organisation that relies on membership fees for its running costs.
The aims & objectives of LIS are as follows:
- Preservation of Indian Culture in the community
- Promoting solidarity, friendship, co-operation, community spirit and cultural interaction amongst LIS members
- Promoting the traditional practices, moral values and cultural standards of the Indian community based in Lincolnshire
- Promote social and cultural integration amongst the Indian community with programs and activities.
- Establish common platform and promote links and interaction between the Lincolnshire-based Indian community and people of Indian origin elsewhere in the world.
- Promote awareness of Indian literature, art, script, rituals, festivals and music.
- Promote links between the Indian community and the wider society of U.K.
- With this in mind, LIS organises several events each year, details of which are updated under the Events page.
LIS looks forward to welcoming newcomers of Indian origin to Lincolnshire and helping them with any queries they might have. Helpful details and contact information may be found under the ‘New to Lincoln?’ section.
Irrespective of whether you’re new to Lincolnshire or have lived here for years, LIS extends a warm invitation to you to join in the fun, socialise, make friends and support the community in which future generations will be nurtured.
